Stepford v. Alien

Okay, which will it be? Your assignment here is to state clearly your preference. You will get credit for this assignment by indicating your choice and your reasoning behind your selection. You can choose either film; The Stepford Wives (1975) or Alien (1979) or choose not to participate in the decision -- any three of these decsions will be fine, as long as you explain why you feel this way. I will count votes before I go to bed Sunday night, around midnight (12:00), so let's make the posting time prior to midnight Sunday.

Good luck!

I want to watch "The Stepford Wives". This film is sililar to "The Body Snatcher". The story is that women in Stepford are replaced with robots by their husbands. Those robots are obedient to husbands. The film describes that men dominate women. I think the idea that their husbands are enemy (or male vs. female)is interesting. I guess that we can learn something about gender from this film. it is meaningful for us.

Hi, Scott. This is Megumi K.
I also want to watch "the Stepford Wives" because the story seems to be more interesting than "Alien." I can imagine the story of "Alien," but I cannot imagine clearly how the story of "the Stepford Wives" will be developed in the film. So, I'm interested in the story of "the Stepford Wives."

Alien.

Sorry Yuka. I have seen it, but it will be interesting to find theme and listen to other's opinion. What makes difference is setting. Alien takes place in other planet. And I'm interested in how to connect Alien with gender. The Stepford Wives seems to be easy to connect. It seems to be made for gender. I want to see both, though.

I want to see The Stepford Wives because this film was not showed in Japan though remake one did. Concerning the content, I think that this one is interesting. The notion that man is superior than woman is still remaining in the today's society. Moreover, we saw the film about alien before, so I want to see human story.

I want to watch "The Stepford Wives", because when after I checked the plot of both of these two films, I thought "The Stepford Wives" describes gender more than "Alien". So, I think it is better to watch "The Stepford Wives".

I want to watch "The Stepford Wives." I looked into both films. The Stepford Wives shows gender more clearly than "Alien". According to a plot outline of The Stepford Wives, it seems to be awful, but I want to know about the connecticut state's atmosphere in those days too.

I prefer to see Alien. Though there would be more scenes about gender in "The Stepford Wives" than in "Alien," it seems more interesting to look for scenes about gender in "Alien." The Stepford Wives seems just about gender. I want to enjoy story, so I prefer to see Alien.

I perfer to see "The Stepford Wives" One reasone is that I don't like scary scenes very much, and another is that this film seems to focus much on gender than another film.

I want to watch "The Stepford Wives" because I think the film is better to think about gender. I have interest in a plot that husbands replace their wives with compliant robots and I want to know how Joanna stand it.
